The Institute // Curriculum

All aspects of film making
The first year of the curriculum is focused on basic skills. The second year on television production. The third year on making films for clients as a training on the job. The students at KFI are trained in a curriculum that combines technical, creative, social and entrepreneurial skills, focusing on their future jobs but, also beneficial in other aspects of their life. The KFI trains its students in all aspects of film making: camera, editing, sound, directing, planning, technical support, etc. On top of that KFI provides training in the vital skills of computers, English and life skills.

Computer
Computer classes at KFI are the first thing students learn when they arrive at the Institute. They are taken through a special computer programme which talks about reproductive health.

English
All students need to have a basic level of English to join KFI but they are given daily lessons for their first 6 weeks at the Institute. This is of course a vital lesson as they will one day be working with overseas visitors and need to be able to communicate clearly with them.

Life-skills
Life skills training is the most enjoyable of all lessons for our students. They love nothing more than to have a full day’s debate on love, marriage, money, politics, etc. Life skills is such a vital part of the curriculum. It is what helps the young students to develop in to caring and bright adults.
