Creative Entrepreneurs Learn Everyday

The Master classes aims are to improve the media landscape in East Africa and to enhance participant’s skills in improving their imaginative skills, business skills and personally enable them brand their business ideas. Our Overall goal at Moving Tanzania is to strengthen documentary making, film, cultural storytelling and other related skills by training those involved in the related creative media industry in East Africa.

The Creative Entrepreneurship (CE) targets practitioners in the creative industry, for example Musicians, Film-makers, Bloggers, Editors, Producers, Actors / Actress, Painters, etc. who are at any level in their industry. This is a platform to learn, share and network with learning opportunities to learn how to start a venture, scale your business or review any practices in your sector.

Once you have an idea you need to develop a marketing strategy on a solid business model. In the process of ideation and planning you can’t miss the 5 P’s namely; Product, Price, People, Promotion and Place. Our main focus is to learn how we can sell our products and also pitch our ideas to potential clients or investors. We also cover extensively on-line and offline promotion and its attributes. After the course each participant leaves with a clear road map of their business identity and wealth of knowledge and skills to compete in different sphere of life.

Our sessions are more practical with a good balance of theory. During the two week training we also host discussion forums on how to receive and give feedback (critique and not criticizing) which many of us are not used to especially when it comes to giving feedback that requires reviews. In the coming lessons we shall looking at budgeting, research on-line and offline, finishing our business models, customer persona, guest speaker and lastly hosting a mini graduation ceremony at our premise where the participants will be presenting their business model to an audience of approximately 25 -30 people which is also part of the challenge.

At Kilimanjaro Film Institute (KFI) we conduct Master Classes  on Cinematography, Technical Editing, Creative Entrepreneurship and Sound & Music in film. Moving Tanzania  program aims at building self-reliant market for documentary making and cultural storytelling in East Africa.

The target groups are:- Makers of documentaries and cultural storytelling for companies, institutions or self-employed, film-makers, video directors, camera  operators, editors, scriptwriters, video journalists etc from East  African Community.

MUSIC & SOUND IN FILM 15TH JUNE – 26TH JUNE 2015

Master class Music and Sound in film course aims to invoke reflectivity, creativity and questions film-makers about the importance of Sound and Music in Film. In two weeks the participants will learn the following;

  • Understanding different microphones and their sensitivity.
  • Understanding different between stereo and how to use hand recorder (Zoom, H4N/H2N).
  • Understand how to mix dialogue, Music and Voice over in Film.

Our approach is learning by doing, we have the latest equipments that
the participants will use during outdoor assignments. They will also
produce small assignments.
