The Trainers from The Utrecht School of the Arts (HKU)

Evelyne Adeyinka
Editor

In 2009 it was very first time I came to KFI. It was real good to be here, because the students were very motivated to learn about film, especial documentary Fan enough, when we were teaching the students about film making, it real nice to hang out with them.

I have learnt a lot from them and I am now back I am very happy to at the institution in 2010

Benthe van Wallenbur
Art and Media Manager

After many stories of previous teammates from the HKU, it is now my turn to step into an adventure in Tanzania. If there is one place where people, talent, work, art, fun, filmmaking, education, passion and different cultures come together, I believe it’s here at KFI.

And without doubt: it works. I’m exited and impressed by the many different projects and ambitions, and feel very lucky to be able to share my knowledge with these future filmmakers of Tanzania

Berent van Eerde
Graphics Designer

I’m happy to be helpful in getting the students of KFI familiar with my disciplines. I hope my knowledge and experience with filmmaking will help the students to become a new generation of filmmakers in Tanzania.

Besides that I’m really enjoying my time at this warm and welcoming place

Eline Vera
Music Production

I’m a Music Production & Performance student at the HKU in the Netherlands. Right now I’m teaching Music and Sound Design at KFI. From the day I arrived at KFI I felt very welcome. The students have an enormous drive and passion for filmmaking and I feel very honored to teach them about Music & Sound Design. They are just starting and I can already see them being the new generation of filmmakers in Tanzania. They are amazing and eagerly to learn. I’m hoping to help them get closer to achieving their goals and dreams…!
Thijs Bazelmans
HKU student

It was a great experience to become part of the KFI family. I had a lot of fun working with very talented and creative people. I hope they will keep enjoying making kick-ass work, and will truly become the first generation of “real” Tanzanian Film-makers. Full Mzuka! top (Tanzanian slang for super cool)

Yoka Groen,
Audio/Visual Trainer

Mambo! My name is Yoka Groen, I’m a third year student at the HKU. When I heard about the Kilimanjaro Film Institute I became very exited. For me this is an opportunity to increase my horizon and learn more about other cultures and their vision on filmmaking. Together with Bobbie I will coach the teachers for the next 2,5 months. The students and teachers are very eager to learn and I think we can learn a lot from each other. KFI is a very warm and welcome place.
Bobbie
Audio/Visual Trainer

My name is Bobbie and I’m a camera student at the HKU. I’m very
excited to be a part of this project to work together with KFI. For 10 weeks I will be coaching the teachers at KFI and together we will prepare and teach the lessons. I will be focusing on the camera group. I’m here for just one week now, but I’m already enjoying it very much. Everybody is very kind and they have given us a very warm welcome (‘karibu sana’ is what I’ve heard A LOT last week! ☺ ). I think we are going to teach each other a lot!
